     Hey, Team Titleist.

Did You Know that the AVX was the first cast urethane covered golf ball that Titleist offered in high optic yellow?

In 2018, we introduced the AVX golf ball as a companion product to Pro V1 and Pro V1x  (Alternative to V and X). Team Titleist members were instrumental in showing us that many golfers could benefit from a ball that performed like Pro V1 and Pro V1x, but with significant differences in Flight, Feel and Spin. Where Pro V1x flies higher, spins more and feels firmer than Pro V1, AVX was designed to help golfers on the opposite side of performance spectrum, flying lower, spinning less and feeling softer than Pro V1.

From the get-go, we knew that AVX’s short game performance had to equal Pro V1 and Pro V1x. For that reason, a urethane elastomer cover was a foregone conclusion. Nothing else could provide the feel and greenside spin required. Timing is everything, and at this time we also happened to be making great strides in new urethane technology. One formulation, in particular, showed promise not only in performance, but also with regards to color.

For years we had looked into the possibility of creating a colored version of Pro V1, but high optic paint systems on our current urethane hadn't produced results that satisfied our high standards for premium appearance and durability. This new urethane prototype, however, had the potential for multi-layered, translucent color that could provide an answer.

R&D chemists developed and tested hundreds of pigmented varieties of this new urethane composition, finally landing on a new formula that was given the lab name of GRN41. When cast on top of a yellow core encased in a tinted yellow ionomer layer, the GRN41 cover delivered high optic visibility with translucent depth, giving the AVX a premium appearance that is remarkably difficult to achieve in a brightly-colored golf ball.

The success of its initial launch and the technologies advanced by AVX would go on to inform future Titleist products and innovations. Throughout testing and its first two years in the market, AVX showed that our new urethane cover system was durable and abrasion resistant, performed as well as the current Pro V1 cover system and would serve fittingly as a medium for premium colored golf balls. This gave Golf Ball R&D the confidence to pursue additional color development and in 2019 we introduced the first high optic yellow Pro V1 and Pro V1x golf balls.

Have you tried Pro V1, Pro V1x or AVX in high optic yellow? Please let us know what you think in the comments below.

Love all three in both white and yellow, but would consider AVX my primary ball since they were introduced in limited regions in late 2018. And, I like it in yellow during the fall and winter. Just picked up 4 dozen of the new 2020 model for the upcoming late season and cold weather months.

I've got a stash of both AVX and Pro-V1 in optic yellow. Just happened for me that the Pro-V1 gives me a better flight with the T400's. In addition I have smaller amounts of white versions - I don't buy those, they get gifted to me. A telling story is from Sand Valley this weekend. I continually had to ask where my ball went, especially off of longer clubs using the white on Sunday. I just can' follow a white ball that far. Used the optic yellow on the 3 holes played on Monday. Knew where the ball was all the time.

I pretty much responded to every forum topic asking for an optic yellow over the years. Privately, I tried the other yellow balls from other companies. But they were always a compromise. First Tee was the eventual owner. As an older player, I really appreciate that Titleist finally came out with a winning formula.

I admit that I am not a golf ball "purchaser"...I usually play what I find. One late afternoon a few weeks ago I had the fortune of finding 2 yellow AVX's (both #2's). Both balls were in the right rough but not hard to spot. Someone just ahead of me either didn't care to look or just wasn't looking in the correct area. Anyway I used them this weekend and I enjoyed the color as they were great to watch fly. Spun nicely around the greens and flew about as far as a Pro V1X which I have been using lately. Lost 1 in a pond and lost the other in some woods. Easy come easy go...

There may come a day that I will need the yellow ball, when I can no longer follow the flight of the white golf ball. Fortunately, thru these bifocals, I can still see my Prov1 in the air in all kinds of conditions the year round. Guess I can count my blessings at 74. I played a sleeve of the yellow AVX when they first came out and did not find them helpful to me, the ball or the color. Some of my buddies swear by the yellow balls. That is why Titleist has such a great selection of golf balls and they a ball for everyone..........

Sticking with white in my ProV1x most of the time, I am such a traditionalist. That said, i keep a few yellow ProV1x for those occasional low-light conditions like late in the day or foggy/misty days. They really help as my 62 year old eye continue to deteriorate.
  7. Today I was playing with a new ProV1 Company Logo ball that I own stock in but it felt like hitting a rock. I love my ProV1 and ProV1x....

swithced to the AVX (both white & yellow) this year and love the feel on every club. Weather is cooler now and I go to the Titelist tour soft same result in cooler weather
  9. I find Yellow golf balls are harder to see in the fall leaves, I just switched back to white until spring

I LOVE the yellow Pro V1!

The pro shop at the golf course where I play cannot keep the yellow Pro V1 in stock. They are always sold out.

I played the Pro V1 before the yellow became available.

The yellow is easier for me to follow in the air after hitting the ball off the tee.

Other golf balls just don't have the consistent feel, performance, and durability of Titleist.

    Keep up the great work!

I have played and have in my stash all 3. I usually play the V1 most of the time. As far as color, I prefer to use the yellow in the fall and spring. I seem to pick them up better in the overcast days. After spending time in the offseason working on my swing mechanics, I like to test the 3 balls to see which one is working best based on where my swing is at.

Huge fan of yellow but, personally, prefer the performance characteristics of the ProV1. Thanks for listening and bringing that color option to us.

  14. My Partner and I exclusively use Titleist AVX !!

We won shootout to be overall champions in recent Member Guest. It is a feeling of confidence in a "Pure" alternate shot 3 hole playoff, that you and your partner play the best in the game.

    Thanks Titleist !

I'm a white ball guy (Pro V1x), but I really appreciate the effort Titleist takes to make sure a product is 100% before release. Rather than simply painting the ball yellow and saying "here you go", you make sure it's right from a performance perspective. That means a lot. Occasionally switching to different optics one can depend on the ball performing equally. I have played Titleist balls for 40 years, this is why. Consistency.
  16. I use the yellow AVX and the yellow ProV.. Mainly use AVX when it's windy or a little wet. They both give me good greenside feel and both feel great off the putter. Just bought a dozen of the new AVX and anxious to try them out. Hit em well guys & gals!!

I started playing the AVX this year, perfect ball for me. I got the yellow version, and have been really happy with it, I can track it better, and find it easier.
