Now, I'm one of the shorter hitters at the club but I'm in the fairway more than most. I may sometimes push or pull it but not a lot of curve, as opposed to my younger days when I was a notorious fader/slicer. Yes, I have gone for help with my swing down thru the years, but I still have a bit of an over the top swing but I believe that enormous improvements in club and ball technology in the last 40 years certainly help.

RE: Driver spin myth

Agree..fairway much more important than distance.

RE: Driver spin myth

Agree. AVX seems to be the best overall ball for me. Feels soft off the clubface, low spin, longer than most, and performs well around the green.

RE: Driver spin myth

Has to do with the set up of the driver you are hitting them with and they way you swing that driver. I can take any of those three balls and fade them slightly, or slice them if I open my stance enough. Might consider going to a Titleist ball fitting when one is available in your area. Those product specialists would put you in the right ball and get you the correct info you are looking for. Cathi, what say you?

RE: Driver spin myth

Thanks Don!

RE: Driver spin myth

If you closely examine those ball's dimples you will see the AVX is significantly shallower. That contributes to the lower spin and lower flight. Theoretically that would also mean less side spin. To Don's point, those spin differences are minimal compared to the bad spin you would put on the ball during a bad swing. It would only go 30 feet into the woods instead of 40 feet into the woods. My suggestion would be to pick the ball that you feel helps you the most on the majority of good shots and feels the best to you coming off the clubs. Good luck and good play!

RE: Driver spin myth

That's what I was thinking, thanks Don!

RE: Driver spin myth

At least with the 3 you have listed, I doubt that any of the 3 slice any more or less than the other. My guess is the only real difference from DT TruSoft through Pro-V1x is how painful is $1.85 vs. $4.00 loss with a bad swing. Using a $4.00 ball may encourage paying to getting lessons to cure the slice. Less lost balls would offset some of the cost of the lessons. If lost balls is a part of the equation as much as scoring around the green, there are DT TruSoft and Velocity options to save money up front. But I no longer believe current balls contribute or decrease significantly on a slice. It's on the archer to correct the swing.
