GTS Driver Selection

I am curious to know how many players who went to a fitting for the GTS lineup went from the TSR3 or GT3 to a GTS2. I want to know what feedback you guys have had with the GTS2. I am being fit end of the month. Thanks so much!!

Going back to TS, I have been in either 2 or 3. I had GT3 and was fit into GTS3. My choice is based upon numbers that work for me and what side of the golf course I am trying to eliminate.

With GTS3, ball speed actually went down but I launched it higher and had better spin which in turn allowed me to hit it higher and farther. More important for me, my misses both left or right did not run away from me. My heel miss, push cut didn't bleed out and my pull didn't tumble over.

It’s always interesting how models change on the cycle and it really shows how important custom fittings are to get the right model.

Agree with Dale. I too have bounced between the 2 and 3 many of the model cycles. This time I went from GT3 to GTS2. Hope your fitting went well.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I haven’t typically struggled with height/trajectory but I’m getting older so time to put ego aside. I’ll try a few options here and there but nice to ‘now the T250 are working for you in the longer irons

T100s to 5 iron then T250 4 iron?

Just after some advice whether the jump from T100 5 iron to T250 4 iron will be too large a move/gap? I will be picking up T100 (4-PW with AMT white) shortly, and considering getting a T250 4 iron for those longer fairway shots and tees. I deploy offshore shortly for a year so cannot get in to a fitting for the T100's or a T250 4 iron. Any advice would be appreciated.

This past week I went to get fit for clubs at the Manchester Lane Facility. This was my first time getting fitted for clubs and I wanted to create this thread to talk about my experience and allow others to share their experiences of getting fitted for clubs.

The facility was absolutely gorgeous even in the winter, and the hospitality from all of the Titleist staff was above and beyond. They made the experience feel so personal and it helped me ease the nerves. As a gear head I loved every step of the fitting process from trying different shafts and clubs heads to seeing the numbers and improvements. A special shout-out to my fitter Chris O'Rourke for such an amazing experience and comprehensive fitting. He walked me through everything he was looking at and made me feel confident with my new clubs. I ended up getting put into the GT2 driver and hybrid, GT280 Mini Driver, T250 4 Iron, T150 5-PW, and the new SM11 wedges. The new clubs are expected to come in two weeks and I am looking forward to taking them on the courses for the 2026 season.

As for myself, I signed up for a Titleist fitting. I was prepared to walk if there wasn’t enough improvement over my current. For some background , I had a serious shoulder injury and had to go to a GT-1 as I couldn’t get my TSR-2 more than 15 feet in the air.
With recovery, I get too many ballooning drives. At the fitting, I was getting over 15 degrees of launch. Only working through GTS-2 lofts, I was getting to 12-14 degrees of launch and 10-15 yards of carry even with only 3 mph ball speed gain.
Maybe if I kept the TSR-2 that may have similar now. But the GTS-2 gave me the results I was looking for. In any event. I’ve restored most of what I lost to Father Time and an injury. I’m not chasing distance, beyond having the best equipment dialed in for my game.

About to set off to Manchester Golf Club for a GTS driver fitting — my first proper fitting since buying my TSi2 back in 2021!

Been looking forward to this day for a very long time after somehow resisting the temptation of the GT [emoticon:98f842990f454422aa6a04953955f9d9]

Really excited to see what numbers the GTS produces and whether anything can finally tempt the TSi2 out of the bag [emoticon:5a01f5fd61e8493d90400edb7ba552e9]️

I have been switched a couple of times from 2 to 3 and back to 2 on different models. I try not to go into a fitting with a preconceived idea of which head model I need. I let the fitting numbers and feel ultimately determine which one I select. Doesn’t matter if it’s the most common head or the least common head. All that matters is what works for me. I had exactly the same issue. I played AP1 irons for a very long time, basically the ultimate game improvement shovels, and recently had a fitting at Titleist in Munich.

I ended up going with the T150 from 7 iron to GW, and T250 in the 5 and 6 iron. My main issue was always a very low ball flight. With the T150 I’m finally getting a much higher launch, even though they are a bit shorter than my old AP1s. But honestly that is not really a problem, you just take one more club and gain much more control and consistency.

I currently play off 2.6, but when I was fitted for my AP1s my handicap was significantly higher, so my game has changed a lot since then. For me the combo setup was definitely the right choice.

Unfortunately your deployment will interfere with something to slot above your 5 iron. Besides the T250 there is also the T150, a U series driving iron, a hybrid, or a 7W.
No matter works for someone else, there is no reason that will be your best option. The safest/optimal solution is to get comfortable with your 5 iron and look at the distances between that and driver. A fitter can recommend a 4 iron based on the results with your 5 iron. You can also pick one of the other options as you can get fit for them and decide which meets your shot window and distance need.

I honestly didn’t even know shortening a driver shaft was really a thing until I went for a proper fitting. I ended up going 1/2” short on mine and my consistency improved a lot. Center contact got way better and I feel much more in control of the club now without really losing anything meaningful distance-wise.

That being said, if possible I’d definitely recommend trying it somewhere like a PGA Store or with a fitter before you start hacking away at your current shaft. Everyone reacts differently and it’s nice being able to compare numbers and feel side by side first.

I have been driving the ball decently, but am always looking for more control. I have a full length driver shaft right now and see so many tips about cutting it down. I have plenty of distance and my main concern is more center strikes and more fairways hit. Is it worth it to cut it down? If so how much should I get cut off?

Start by putting a tape line 1/2 inch from the end of your grip and hit balls at this shorter length to see if it give you the results you are looking for before shortening the shaft You could try the tape line at different lengths to optimize your driver.

Barry is spot on. I only use driver at 45 inches. I once did a class where we tried 45 vs 46 inches. Hence, why I don’t use stock length.

Never did a full trial with a wood but the poor man’s test would be to choke down an inch. At least worked with baseball bats.

The only right answer is "maybe"
That is something you should discuss with a fitter.
If you want to explore it yourself, I suggest buying a used shaft so you can always go back to the original if it doesn't work out. Everytime you cut it, it will change the swingweight and you'll need to regrip. You'll need a few headweights and extra grips.
In the long run, it's cheaper to find a good fitter with some pre-cut shafts you can try.

I I had an awesome fitting experience with Mr. Chase Wood. The fitting was super detailed, and he tested every option to help me get the best performance possible. I was fitted on May 12, and my new T250 irons and Vokey SM11 wedges arrived at my club only 7 days later!

The whole Titleist fitting experience was amazing, and I’m really excited to start my summer tournament season with the new clubs in the bag. Thank you Titleist & Mr. Wood!

There is a Custom Order catalog on line. Weight kits are listed there.

However, the Catalog has not yet been updated today to reflect the GTS series clubs. Sometime on or after 6/11 it should be updated. And authorized dealers will be able to order single or full sets of weights with the correct stock numbers for you.

I ordered clubs through Titleist and had them bent 2 degrees flat per my fitters recommendation (which was a Titleist premier fitter). He also recommended 1/2 inch short. I have been using the new clubs for several months now and I have been fading the ball a lot more than normal.

Upon researching, when you shorten a club 1/2 inches, it essentially makes the club a degree flatter. So now I believe my clubs are playing 3 degrees flat. I would like to bend them back at least 1 degree. Has anyone had experience taking them somewhere to get them adjusted? I don't wanna just go to a Dick's or something, so do you just go to a trusted pro shop or is there a retailer that specializes more in Titleist?

GTS Driver

I’m from the south central part of Virginia. Located between Danville and Lynchburg.

I was hoping someone in the group may have been fit in this area. I’m willing to drive as much as 2hrs to make sure I get the proper fitting. Not one who gives me 30 mins of their time and sticks me in a stock head and shaft without trying other options and adjusting weights to optimize the driver and ball flight.

Anyone from this area recommend a particular fitter or fitting center that they trust to do the job right?
