  1. Hi

I'm struggling with driver consistency and I think the stock shaft is just too long at 45.5. My mishits are more heel side. Most drives are starting right and staying there with very slight fade on the better ones. Just cant seem to square the face consistently. Swing speed just over 100 with ball speeds in the low 140's. Have played more than 30 rounds with this driver and thinking about switching to something else.

Any suggestions before I consider switching?

Sounds like the great Indian versus arrow debate. There are reasons to reduce the length of the shaft - most pro’s use 44.5 over 45.5. It would be more efficient to work with a local fitter to work on settings, check your swing, and possibly trimming the shaft from the butt end. Other popular OEM drivers are also in excess of 45 inches. That won’t change your issue.

I thought the same a couple years ago given my consistency struggles with the driver, so opted to have my shaft cut down by an inch and since then, have seen a large improvement in accuracy (I play a 917D3). I did add 2g too the head by replacing the standard weight with the 14 g weight and my shot shape is still a slight fade, but as I recall, there have been a few players throughout history who have been pretty successful playing left to right. It is clear at least for me that I hit the center of the club face consistently, and have probably increased distance a bit given many more fairway roll outs. I am sure with the number of shafts and combinations available, there are other options to consider, but I liked my shaft, liked my driver head, and thought it was the best option for me. It happened to work well.

A few questions for you, to give you some things to consider before "moving on" from your TS3.

Were you fit for the driver? If so, consideration for shaft playing length would have been a consideration of the fitter.

Have you practiced gripping down on the shaft to see if your face contact improves from the heel position?
Even at standard playing length of 45.5 inches, you can grip down to make face contact improve with no detrimental effects.

Any swing changes that may have occurred AFTER you were fit, IF you were fit initially?

Best of luck getting it sorted out, the Titleist TS3 is a great driver, long and forgiving, as long as it fits your game and swing.
  5. Went to fitting on the New TSi 3 driver, had hard time hitting standard length, went to 45" hzrdus rdx and imediately started hitting it solid. My maximum driver length is 45"
