I guess when golf was in it's early days Caddies were a staple and available at pretty well every course. Now days Caddies seem to be available only at the high end courses or some exclusively private clubs. I belong to a private club in Barrie, and we have no caddie program. I am curious if there even is such a thing in Canada... I do recall when I hired a caddie at Pinehurst he was telling me about the caddie program they have across the Southern States where they have training and registration programs available to become professionals in that chosen career. Back to the main question... In another post, Darren Y from Summerland, BC noted that adding a Caddy to the mix during a round of golf was almost heavenly. I must agree. Any time I have gone to one of those "special" courses I always hired a Caddy and was always glad that I did. To me it really adds to the experience not to mention that it normally helps with the score:) I know for a fact that having a Caddy when I played at Pebble, Pinehurst, The Old Course, and KingsBarnes made the round so much more enjoyable. In fact most of my memories of the round included something the Caddy either did or said along the way ! What about you.... What are your thoughts on having a Caddy ??

I have used a caddy on two occasions and found their assistance was very valuable. I had a caddy when I played Pebble Beach and also when I played Chamber's Bay.
At Pebble Beach the caddies advice for where to leave the ball on approach shots and green reading were very helpful. He also pointed out many items of interest regarding the history of the course.
At Chamber's Bay the caddy provided good advice off the tee, on approaches and green reading.
I would recommend using a caddy when you play those "bucket list" type of courses.
