    Lethbridge,

Our crew of golfers that get together every Wednesday for 18 and adult beverages after came up with new idea. Last Wednesday after some adult beverages people were commenting that the game was getting a little stale and should be livened up. So after some discussion and negotiation we decided to play 5 club golf. every golfer got to choose 5 clubs and only 5 clubs once you started you are stuck with those same clubs for the whole round.

Needless to say it was interesting with some whinging as golfers generally do. Some of the guys shot their handicaps some just over and some blew up totally. At the meeting after the round and some adult beverages it was decided that while it was enjoyable, because of the company, this would be maybe a once a year event.

As an aside it was challenging trying to manufacture shots when between clubs. I was 5 shots over my handicap but did learn a simple lesson do not try to do too much with too little talent.

  2. Glad you enjoyed it, but I would have no interest in such a game. I would pick several other ideas before that one, such as new partners, quota system, even playing from different tees. My belief is that we only have so many rounds of golf to play in a summer and I hate wasting one on a scramble or monkey golf, or a bad course.
If you come to Ontario this week you can enjoy the pleasure of playing in 30-40km/hr winds. That is a challenging game!

I think that might be fun. Play in a men's senior league three days a week and am 72 years old and I would probably choose my a driver, a 20 degree hybrid, an eight iron, a wedge and a putter. Once a year would not hurt for a little fun. I do not play in scrambles, kind ruins my game, but something like this could only improve on those chosen clubs. I enjoy playing in tournaments even at my age and still play in about five a year. Playing in a men's three day invitational this coming weekend. We will be flighted after the first two days. No handicaps, playing against the field. Titleist and FootJoy will be providing the tee gifts. A little more fortunate here in South Carolina, we get to play most of the year.
