I have read almost all the comments on the sites about the new X vs the V and wanted to share my thoughts. I seem to one of a rare group that isn't switching but sure was confused in beginning. I am a long time X player, and have played both new ones this spring, on course and on track man to confirm what I saw on the course. So many people have written they are switching to the new ProV from old X. After testing here are my thoughts, for anyone who may be confused: 1) I am staying with the new X. It flies higher than the V for sure, on irons and driver, but in my opinion holds line just fine, no dropping out of sky. 2) The V irons fly lower for sure, and is a great ball, I prefer High towering irons that hold line and stop where I hit it, even in the wind, and the new X does that for me. Confirmed on trackman. I also get better ball speed on all clubs with the new X than I did with the new V. Trackman again confirms. 3)Off the driver the X also flies higher and consistent. The V lower and long but I prefer the flight of the X as mentioned I like to tower it and wind doesn't seem to knock it down, nor did I lose any distance but rather a touch more distance with the X. (likely due to carry) 4) Short game: X feels great as does V and I see no difference in any shots under 100 yds. In fact the 50-120 yd range they both performed the same for me. Putting I like firmer feel of X but likely because I've always played it.

Based on the long irons and driver flight I am sticking with the X. If you prefer lower flights across the board, the V will do that for. Hope this helps Cheers Team!

    Hi James,
Great summary here based on your experiences and the way it reflects our intentions with the performance of V vs X.

    Thanks for sharing!

James ... great summary! I too have played the X the last few seasons and will be sticking with it again this season. I came to the same conclusions as you and see no reason the change it up.

    Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the great review on the new ProV1 and the X.
It is so nice to get a full review such as the one you posted. Unfortunately I do not have a trackman to give me data so I have to rely on just what I see and experience. It is so good to hear the trackman gives you good date to support your conclusions :)

Hey Darius ... wouldn't it be great to have one though - a Trackman or perhaps a Flightscope?

Ah, the practice capabilities that one could get from them ... but of course, being a bit of a data junkie myself, I would need to remember to not fall into the trap of playing "golf swing" instead of golf! :)

    Hi Darius,
Please keep a close eye on our Events page here: http://www.titleist.ca/events
If there is a Titleist Ball Event or Demo Day in your area you should be able to attend and request a Golf Ball Fitting. All Titleist Fitting Experts execute Titleist Ball Fittings and Education sessions on a very regular basis and would be happy to do so for you upon request.

    I hope this helps!

    Cheers,

James, what did driver spin rates look like between the X and V? I am in the same camp as you; long time X user. I have also read all the info on the web to try to get a sense of what might work better for me. I actually prefer the feel of the V (always have) but have played the X because it had slightly lower driver spin and was longer off the tee for me.

    Hi Jamie L,
My spin rates are really low to begin with. In fact Chris at the national Fitting centre helped me a ton as he found my irons needed more spin to hold line in my new 716s.
So with that said I am usually 1950-2200 in driver spin, 105-107 mph club head speed, 1.50 smash factor, +6-9 AoA, and 15-17 launch across the board. Usually travels 285-295 (total, 265ish carry)with a few occasional 300s.
The new x seemed right on that number but the ball speed for me was 158-162. New X vs about 152-156 ball speed with new V (and launched lower) and peak height lower. Spin rates similar range, maybe just a tad higher but nothing that would change my results that much.
Last year I got similar numbers with old x, but my ball speed was lower.
Not sure if that helps but I will offer this.......... I myself couldn't "feel" the difference between old and new X, but the V was a touch softer on the driver. Both felt same on short game 100 yds in.
Hope that gives you some info to decide on. Sorry if I couldn't answer the spin rates better for you.

    Lethbridge,

Nice to hear everyones thoughts. I played with the Pro V1X last year and when I tried the new Pro V1's I decided that I was switching and I did for a few rounds. The last couple of rounds I pulled out an X and played a round. Well the X just felt right no trackman or flightscope it just felt right. Sorry Pro V 1 but you have been replaced. Both great products but the X just felt better especially with a putter.
