A lot of noise this week about Justin Thomas shutting down out a heckler on the course. I say, "Way to go, J.T.!" It's about time these idiots get put in their place and kicked OUT! J.T. was in contention to win. My feeling is, this incident helped him get the, "W,", but only J.T. knows. I'm so sick and tired of hearing stupid comments when a player hits a shot.

    What do you people think?

Should professional golfers keep their heads down and just, "play?"

Or should they address these type of issues and get offenders kicked out of tournaments?

I think the guys who yell stupid things should be removed from the crowd. So tired of that.

I'm with you. I hate the silly shouting after a hit shot, especially " get in the hole" on a par 4 tee shot... But I'm also tired of watching players drop / fling their clubs at the finish of a bad swing, just hold onto the club.

It has become so bad that fans will yell something stupid on purpose so their voice will be on TV. I am with J.T., the idiot should have been ejected. I am sorry J.T. apologized and said he over reacted. No he didn't!

I think it was a bad look for Thomas to have the guy removed in such a public way. Pull an official or a marshal aside and have them do the dirty work. The action by Thomas made him look petulant and petty.
  6. JT has taken a lot of criticism on this. Which I think is unfair. heckling in golf is a lot different then any other sport. Why? In golf, the fans are right on top of them, other sports you’re looking at 50yds or more. In golf, there is no cheering, booing, yelling constantly, like every other sport. The arguements i’ve Seen is, they are getting paid a lot of money, they should be able to handle it. The money has nothing to do with it, and shouldn’t. Just about every other sport is reactionary, golf is a game of concentration. Lastly, back to the money. Would a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, allow someone to come in their office, and start heckling them? For that matter, any manager of any company. Just my opinion

agree...should be kicked out....2 thoughts on reason why....i) most golfers do not wish others to screw up...i rather beat my friend(s) with both of us playing our best...2) what if the guy who was yapping....had $$ on Luke List to win....stupid!!!.
  8. Degrades the game, both the player and spectator experience. Would like to see it eliminated from most if not all tournaments...save 16th at TPC Scottsdale.

Love the European fans. No idiots yelling stupid things. Someone hits a good shot all you hear is clapping.

Agree with JT on this and glad to see he stepped up and did something. HOWEVER, it shouldn't be him doing this.. The PGA official or someone should've stepped in and taken control of the situations. It's common sense if they've been around the game long enough... I don't understand all the yelling and screaming after a player hits the ball.. Seem like they're looking for attention.. It's stupid. Just sit back and enjoy the game and keep ya mouth shut.

If I ever saw something like that, I would do what Scorp did "HEY, SHUT YOUR MOUTH!" ;)

Agree - these situations have come up throughout the years and generally, it works best when an official steps in before it escalates.

Golf has always been a game of honor and respect, and I find it disappointing that JT had to ask for the fan to be removed. IMO the Marshals/Officials should have taken care of that for him.
It's common knowledge that Arnie's Army wasn't very kind to "fat Jack" and what happened to Cameron Smith down in Australia was much worse than what happened to JT. I understand the argument that professional athletes should be good enough to deal with distractions, but that's just not golf (ok maybe for one week down in AZ it is)
While heckling is undoubted rude, as a player, I would be way more concerned with the idiots yelling 'ba-ba-booey' or 'get in the hoooooole' after every shot. We saw some donkey at The Farmers distract TW from his putt by yelling before he made impact. I'm all about having fun, but these idiots really detract from the game.

Good for JT on speaking up (bad on eventually backing off) on this subject. So tired of listening to this morons yell just to hear their own voices. Not an issue on the European tour, LPGA, or Champions. The broadcast channels need to start showing these losers being thrown out so the general public see the consequences. Step up your game PGA Tour.
