I sure hope that Titleist's next drivers have some low spin technology. I currently have a 913 D2 driver and in the last 6 months went to 2 separate fitting days for a 917 D2. Both times we could not get my spin rate below 4000 rpm's. Trackman had my swing speed at about 80 mph. We tried every combo of length, loft and flex, to no avail. I'm sure that my swing speed is lower than most TT Members, but it is what it is. I have tried other drivers and one in particular was giving me 10-15 yds more carry and 10-12 yds more roll and 800 rpm's less ( Trackman numbers, outdoors ) with a 44 inch shaft. I'm not saying which because I'm not going to tout another Mfg. on this site, but it's hard to argue with the numbers. I'm going to hold out for a while and see what the Titleist R&D folks come up with as I'm sure that a new driver is coming soon.

  2. The D3 is lower spinning. Did you hit that?

BTW...my name only shows up as "F" and I have no idea how to fix that!

Just out of curiosity, did your fitter have access to (only) a cart or was this at a Titleist Thursday? With all the driver shaft options available from Titleist, it's hard to imagine there isn't something that will perform better. If it was the former, maybe someone can suggest some shaft options. Titleist can make loaner shafts available for sites with fewer options. My speed is under 85, and I definitely gained 20 yards over a 913, moving the spin rate from 3000 to 2400. This was at TPI, with the entire shaft matrix available. My shaft is "stock" but not a standard cart option.

Agree with Don O. It's not just the head that affects spin, but the shaft and head combination. I good fitter will know which shafts will get your spin down, while also maximizing launch.

I'm 75 years old and have the same problem with spin. My swing speed is 75 - 80 mph. Does anyone know the lowest spinning shaft Titleist offers?

My fitter put me in a D3, and a TENSEI Shaft. Was able to bring it down less than 2400.

I'm older swing speed about 78-85.

This was a Titleist Thursday setup. The van pulled up with the tent and tons of equipment. Irons, woods, wedges with carts full of heads and shafts. It took him a good 20-30 minutes just to set up and was on the range from 10 am to 3pm

My swing speed is 80-85 and at my Titleist Thursday fitting last year (because of swing issues I was having) we could not get my spin rate above 2200 most of the time with a 917D2 or my driver, but that was a swing issue I was having at the time. This year it was 2400-2800 with my 915D2 & 917D2. we went through 12 shafts last year and my fitter was very shocked. But like I said my swing was not in a good place at the time...
