  1. What's in your blended set of irons?

My current setup has AP1 (4,5), AP2 (6,7), and MB (8,9) with KBS C-taper Lite shafts.

but one of my favorite clubs in the bag is my 913F 17 deg shaft bassara S 3W. SO a 5W head on a 3W shaft. so much regularity with it. Thanks to my pro and fitter.

  9. Will ge getting custom fit in next week, initially was looking at AP3:5 and 6 iron and then AP2 7 - PW, may well look at AP1 in longer irons instead...

Barry- you will love the AP3 4 iron. Since it was close to 50 degrees this past weekend in Connecticut I was able to hit the range. Nothing like seeing the ball travel in the air outdoors! Let me tell you it is a rocket, ball (range balls obviously) jumps off the face can only imagine how much more I will get out of the club when I play my pro V1x. You can hit high, low, work it left or right with ease! Only slight negative I have is the offset, a little to much for my eye but I will deal with it cause the performance I get out of it is what matters...

Thanks Luke. I'll check it out. It should definitely suit my eye better and will no doubt have less offset than the AP1 4-iron I'm carrying. The AP3 appears to slot perfectly between the AP1 and AP2.

Yes, due to the large gap between AP2 8i and AP3 7i , I have decided to play two 7 irons right now. It works out well, but I had to replace a 915F 5W and an 816H 21* hybrid with a single 818H 19 hybrid to get in at 14 clubs.

I am considering 718 AP1 4-6 then 718 AP2 6-gap. Yes, two 6 irons. You guys ever done this? I don't like bending clubs as it affects the bounce.

I'm doing it now with two 7 irons (AP3 and AP2). See my comment above.

Sorry Doug, missed that in your post. Does it feel weird have two 7 irons? I am going to have to dump either my 3 wood or my 60 to make this work. I almost never use the 60 and I am pretty versatile with my 56 but I hate dumping wedges.

I ordered the AP2's yesterday, hopefully they come in soon.

No, it doesn't feel weird. The numbers on the sole mean nothing. If they all had lofts stamped on the bottoms, instead of iron numbers, no one would think twice about a 31* and a 34*. For me, on sweetspot contact with the same good swing put on both, I get at least 8-10 yards more with my AP3 31*, even though both 7 irons are the same length club. Though I had to remove a club from the bag to do it, I actually replaced two with one as I mentioned previously. I took out a 915F 5W and an 816H 21 degree hybrid and replaced them both with an 818H 19 to cover the approximate 30-40 yard gap average between my 5i and 3W. The new 818H hybrid distance falls about midway between my 3W and 5i now, and I don't really feel it will hurt my scoring opportunities going forward. I don't have that kind of long game control. My best game is (and I would guess most other's games) from 150 yds and in. I can always choke down an inch or two to limit my distances with either the 3W or 19* hybrid if and when it's necessary.

I would never recommend giving up a wedge unless you hardly ever use it and have little confidence with it when you do.

Not too mixed for me really.

    3 TMB with a Graphite Design AD 7i 82grm X shaft
4 TMB with DG Tour Issue X-100
    5-P 716 AP2's with DG Tour Issue X-100
50*, 56* and 60* Vokey with DG Tour Issue X-100 (All wedge shafts are the same length as my P)

917 Driver with graphite Design AD 8i 86grm X shaft
    915 13* with Graphite Design AD 7i 82grm X shaft
    918H set at 17* with Graphite Design AD 7i 92grm X shaft

I make the call on long irons and hybrid depending on the day and course. Something has to stay behind.

Currently playing 716 ap2 5-pw but 5 iron really close to same distance as 6. Thinking of replacing with an ap3. What about the stronger loft? 716 ap2 6 iron is 30 degrees loft and ap3 5 iron is 25. Would I want to have it 1 degree weaker to fit in?

The mixed set is so awesome.

    718 TMB 3 iron
    718 CB 4 - 6 irons
    718 MB 7-9 irons
    SM7s in 46, 52, 56, and 60

Can't play enough golf to satisfy my love for these clubs.
  24. I currently play

    AP3 5-7 with the 6 and 7 iron bent 1 weak
AP2 8-PW with them all bent 1 strong
    Shafts: Steelfiber i95 hardstepped once.

Still testing phase so I am not sure how well it will work out. Golf just started here in Michigan. Once the weather warms up and full distances are back I will know better if it works. So far I have no issues, but I do find the AP3 straighter and less workable than the AP2. Also, I have not found a distance gap between them so far.

Not much of a blend, but.................

    818 H2 - 21* Tensei Blue stiff (3 Iron replacement)
    718 T-MB - 4 Iron
    718 AP2 - 5 Iron thru PW
Shafts - KBS Tour V stiff (hard stepped once)

I'm not sure how "blended" you would say this is, but I can't find a 4 iron to match my 714 series graphite shaft AP1 irons. I'm carrying a graphite shaft DCI instead.

My irons also include a 48* wedge, but I have a 50* Vokey. Depending how well each of those works out, one will stay and one will go. Again, not very blended, but I suspect the Vokey will replace the AP wedge.
