On a chilly, snowy morning in New Bedford, Massachusetts, I was treated to a taste of spring and summer touring the famed Ball Plant 3, which produces more than 320,000 Titleist ProV1 and ProV1X golf balls each day! It was fascinating to see the #1 ball in golf at each stage of its development. The quality and precision that Titleist puts into producing these balls is impressive, but not surprising. Since it first rolled out the ProV1 in 2001, Titleist set the bar not only for professional golfers but for amateurs alike.

My day started with a reserved parking spot for Team Titleist members. We watched a video featuring the professionals that play Titleist -- Jordan Speith, Justin Thomas, Brooke Henderson -- many of whom have toured Ball Plant 3. I loved seeing the cores being constructed, watching the new balls go through rigorous quality checks, and seeing the paint being applied as the balls moved down the line.

Everyone who we met at Titleist was professional and happy to share more about their role in bringing this ball to the marketplace. In fact, the average tenure of workers at Titleist is over 22 years, with several people having worked there for more than 50 years!

Thanks so much to everyone at Titleist for a terrific tour of Ball Plant 3. Quality. Precision. Pride. The ProV1 and ProV1X are clearly the best balls in golf! Now, if we could just speed up the coming of spring, I can get back on the course.

Sounds like a great thing to do when there is white stuff on the ground.

To think Titleist has had this attention to detail for many years. It is truly amazing how many quality checks are done. Titleist is perfection personified.

After living for years without the ability to gain access to the greatest factory in the world to see how my favorite balls were manufactured was a bucket list moment.

Upon arrival we found reserved parking for Team Titleist members. Upon entering the Lobby we were greeted by a screen with our names on it along with other Team Titleist members. We signed in and members of the walk through committee were there to take us on a tour of the specialized plant. Not good at remembering names but they all were professional and full of information.

They gave us all hearing assistance ear buds so that that the factory noise would not interfere with our tour.

To say the least this was amazing to follow the ball manufacture from initial molding to finalized painting and stamping. Any and all questions were answered during the tour which took around 90 minutes.

One person in particular was extremely kind and helpful that was June Medeiros from corporate.

Finally it was a pleasure to take the tour and to get a better understanding on how my favorite golf ball V1x was made. This plant made the V1 and V1x.

An opportunity for everyone who thought they knew what goes into that golf ball and the quality control that surrounds it.

Thank you all for sharing this experience with us.

I took the tour of Ball Plant 3 with two other fellow golfers this afternoon and what an experience! The videos and pictures don’t show the big picture. What effort to maintain consistent quality throughout the manufacture of the PROV1 and PROV1X ball so that you experience the same performance no matter where or when it is purchased. If you are in the New Bedford, MA area spend the 2 hours to see how they are made. Looking forward to teeing up the AVX ball which Is ramping up to full production at Plant 3. Thanks to the Titleist employees who conducted the tour and for showing us the manufacturing, teamwork and dedication they have in making “the Best golf ball in golf”. Waiting for the snow to clear when the warmer weather finally arrives in New England. Also looking forward to the opportunity to stock up with the Loyalty Program in March.

I had the opportunity to tour BP3 last week. Fascinating even though I was familiar with most of the processes from a previous position with the R&D department of a former rival. The advance of technology, as well as the multitude of in process inspections, has enabled Titleist to stay on top of the industry.

What is more impressive to me is that all of the associates who had worked in the old wound ball (balata) plant were offered the opportunity to be retrained for different positions within the company. Now, how can I get myself a position there so I can contribute to their leadership?
