  1. Hi, 1st post, so please be gentle :-)

I have booked in for a full line fitting at St Ives, and just wondered what to expect. Will the iron fitting be done off grass or Astro turf? Will the wedge fitting be done at a short game area, with greens and bunkers?

I play off 5 and have had a bad year, irons wise, it's pretty good but off the tee has been a real struggle for consistency this year with a swoosh flex driver. My swing is not in bad shape, just not 100%. I'm looking at a full set and hoping to find a hybrid I'm comfortable with off the tee at the same time. Putting and short game has always been a real weakness, I'm not sure my putter or wedges are suited to my game, as off the shelf. So hoping I can use this fitting as a real step forward.

    Any thoughts or advice welcome.

You'll be indoors hitting out to a driving range with Trackman, you'll hit what ball you prefer off a practice mat so everything is flat and a consistent ground.
It's a great experience that you'll enjoy with great guidance !

Those guys really know there stuff, I was lucky enough to have a fitting there on the 718's a couple of weeks ago. The stand out part for me was the putting. After trialling other putters the advice given to me was to cut my existing scotty down an inch and change the grip to a midsize matador. Played sunday for the first time with the new setup on my putter and 29 putts ober 18 holes. This led to two single figure handicappers coming 2nd in a fourball betterball comp usually dominated by the high handicappers as its stableford. We only missed out on winning by a point as well. I can dafely say your game will benefit from what you are about to do.
  4. Thanks for the comments guys, really appreciate it.
Interesting re the putting stuff Simon, as that's probably the area of the fitting where there isn't as much technology being used. Great that it's a worthwhile part of it though, as it's a real scoring area, a 4' putt being as important as a 300 yard drive!
I'm at the point where it will only probably be my irons AP2's that I don't change, so I'm really looking forward to it
