Is everyone buying the SM7 or saving cash and getting the SM6 with the recent price drop? I do want to try the D grind

I'm torn. I love my SM6s, but with close to 350 rounds on them over the last two years, I need to replace before the season gets into full swing. The new SM7s sound like they are going to be somewhat similar, with only minor changes to CG positioning, though different enough overall to make me want to take advantage of the newer features.

Not worried about my gap and sand wedges (50.08F and 54.10S), but after playing an SM6 58.12K lob wedge with good success over the past two seasons, I hate to change much about it. However, a 12* bounce version is no longer offered in the SM7. Now, it's only available in a 14* bounce. It was a big move for me when I switched from a 60.07 to a 58.12 early in 2016. I had some trepidation about using a high bounce lob wedge, but found I was still able to flop from thin lies with it and the performance from greenside bunkers was better than any wedge I have ever used. I'm sure a 14* bounce would be fine from bunkers, but I am a little uneasy about open-faced tighter lies or firm conditions with more bounce than I am already playing. I hate to have to spend time getting used to a different set up. But, sometimes you have to step back to move forward. Either way, I have 3 new wedges going in the bag this year. Probably a combo of SM6 and SM7.
  3. I am torn at the moment. I need to replace my worn SM6's, and would like to save some cash. However, Titleist marketing is incredibly effective. Something about the way the 7 looks on the club... haha

Not sure what the difference will be but I'm LOVING the jet black option...

I'm not torn at all! I still have my SM4 568 in the bag! Ha-Ha. As much as I've dumped into new AP2's 6-P 4 & 5 TMB's, a new driver and 3 metal. I think I'm going to go the save money route and get a set of SM6's at the discount. Doug... Like most here, we've all gone through dozens of Vokey wedges over the years and they've all been great. I think we're splitting hairs to be honest. What ever road you go down... Get them and start beating them into the ground.

I'll save the money & stay with my SM6 wedges I got them last year (July/August) so they are still in good playing shape. Then I may get the SM7's at a discount once the SM8's come out. Lol
I will say I have never had a bad Vokey Wedge from my SM4's on....... so it is always money well spent no matter which way a person goes.
  9. I'm taking the opportunity to upgrade my SM5 wedges, I don't like switching gear too often as it has proven to hurt my consistency. That being said, I will be looking into the 60 degree D grind this spring. After years of testing the different grinds and making slight adjustments I'm just hesitant to change what works so well!

Love my Raw SM6's but the Jet Black 7's are incredible!
