Titleist Weekly Tour Highlights

PGA TOUR:

Brendon Todd (Pro V1x) fired a sizzling final round 9-under par 62 to win the PGA Tour's inaugural Bermuda Championship by four shots.

It marks the second career victory for Todd, who reeled off seven consecutive birdies to reach the final turn at 7-under 29. He made three more birdies on the back nine before dropping a shot on the final hole, leaving him with a 24-under par 260 victory total.

Todd’s win marked the sixth for Titleist golf ball players through the first nine events of the 2019-20 PGA TOUR season, compared to one each for the nearest competitors.

Todd topped a leaderboard on which nine (9) of the top 10 finishers relied upon a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x for their success. Four of them tied for 3rd, including Titleist Brand Ambassador Hank Lebioda (Pro V1x, TS3 driver, TS2 fairway metal, 818H2 hybrid, 718 AP2 irons, Vokey Design SM7 wedges, Scotty Cameron 009 putter), who raced up the leaderboard with a closing 8-under par 63. He was joined by Brian Gay (Pro V1x) and another Pro V1 player who switched to Titleist at the RBC Canadian Open while under agreement with another golf ball brand. They all finished at 18-under 266.

In addition to the Pro V1x golf ball, the winner also played a combination set of 718 T-MB/4-5 irons and 718 CB/6-PW irons and Vokey Design SM7 gap/50 and sand/54 wedges.

LPGA:

The defending champion, playing a Pro V1, birdied the first hole of a three-way playoff to win the LPGA Swinging Skirts where all three players finished at 18-under 270. Of the three players was Caroline Masson (Pro V1x), who closed with a 4-under par 68 to set the clubhouse lead. Masson’s two competitors birdied the final hole of regulation to force the playoff.

The victory came on the first extra hole with a birdie on the par-5 18th.

Brooke Henderson also fired a final round 68 to finish in a three-way tie for 4th with fellow Pro V1 golf ball loyalists Sei Young Kim and Mi Jung Hur.

This event marked the second of three straight across Asia with the final tournament in Japan to come this week. The win was the 24th for Titleist golf ball players on the 2019 LPGA Tour, six times the nearest competitor with 4.

CHAMPIONS:

It was an all-Titleist Pro V1 playoff at the Invesco QQQ Championship where Colin Montgomerie topped Bernhard Langer with a par on the first extra hole. Both players finished regulation at 14-under par 202, with Montgomerie firing a tournament course-record 9-under 63, which included a 40-foot birdie putt on the final hole.

The event was the second of three in the Charles Schwab Cup playoff race leading up to the season finale next week.

The win was the seventh of Montgomerie’s career on PGA TOUR Champions and was the 19th for Titleist golf ball players on the 2019 PGA TOUR Champions, nearly four times the nearest competitor with 5.

SOUTH AFRICA:

Titleist Brand Ambassador George Coetzee (Pro V1x, TS2 driver, 718 CB irons, Vokey Design SM7 wedges) captured his 10th Sunshine Tour title following a 20-under performance.

Coetzee took a three-shot lead into the final round and won by the same margin over MJ Viljoen (Pro V1x).

Titleist Brand Ambassadors Martin Rohwer (Pro V1, TS2 driver, TS3 fairway metal, 818 H2 hybrid, 620 CB/MB irons, Vokey Design SM7 wedges, Scotty Cameron Golo putter) and Keenan Davidse (Pro V1x, TS3 driver, TS2 fairway metal, 718 MB/CB irons, Vokey Design SM6 wedges, Scotty Cameron Newport putter) tied for 3rd, another two shots back.

In addition to golf balls, Titleist was also the field favorite in drivers with 41 (35%).

JAPAN:

Jung-Gon Hwang (Pro V1x)  started the final round one shot off the lead, and closed with a 5-under par 67 en route to a 19-under 269 victory total at the Mynavi ABC Championship.

It was a Titleist Pro V1x 1-2-3 finish, as Hwang finished one shot clear of Shugo Imahira and three better than Satoshi Kodaira.

Nine (9) of the 12 players who finished among the top 10 and ties relied upon Titleist golf balls for their success. The one shot win marked Hwang’s fourth career JGTO title.
