December is here, and many local courses are beginning to close for winter. We’ve been blessed with a mild November and I’m hopeful the winter season will still allow for golf until Spring.

Why? Because for whatever reason, I’m playing my best golf of the year, probably even in a couple of years. I don’t know exactly what is clicking, but most of my game has been dialed in, and I’ve had some personal bests over my last few rounds.

So you all know what this means - snow in the weekend forecast!! GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Hang in there and stay brushed up! Hopefully the cold will pass. I feel for you!

Are these the new clubs you've been playing with? Wasn't sure if you went ahead and got the 718s. But I hear ya winter is here for sure... At least you're going out with a big bang! Just like Fowler :)

No, I’m still playing my old AP2s - still a great club despite their age. I did pick up a 917 D3 and a couple of SM6 wedges with pro shop credits though. The biggest improvement lately though has been my putting. My 2003/4 vintage Futura has been on fire! A couple of weeks ago - only 5 GIR and one tee ball OB but still shot a 73 thanks to 21 putts!! Stupid crazy day - Ty Webb na na na na - everything went in including 8 from 15-30 feet. I was a single playing with 3 members of a local semi-private course. They asked if I wanted in on their skins game - I declined. Probably lucky I did - they would have run me out on a rail!

Sorry George, I understand completely. So glad I made the move to San Diego 3 years ago. Year round golf is wonderful. I still make an annual winter trip to Bandon Dunes so I can break out the cold weather clothes. Stay warm or take a trip south for the holidays.

Treat yourself to a trip to a warm spot and see if the game holds up. Even if it doesn't, enjoy the time you had when you were really dialed in.

Was up at Santee at Lake Marion in middle part South Carolina today for an event. A lot of folks from Canada down here playing golf. Also a lot of folks stopping off there to pick up discounted FJ shoes on their way to Florida for better golfing conditions. Might be time for a road trip.

I'm in the same boat been playing best golf of my life this summer and now winter sets in. I live in ky and it has 30-40 degree highs with high winds not ideal conditions but with a heater and cart enclosure I can get in a couple rounds a month. Hopefully that will keep the rust off somewhat but like playing 3-4 times a week like normal. Depressing!
  9. Played a lot this week in Northwest Ohio and also playing the best golf of the year for me. Think yesterday was the last round for me as Old man winter is coming tomorrow. Amazing how many diehards were out there squeezing in that last round. If it’s 35 and sunny I’m out there.

It proves that God has a sense of humor. Remember "Bishop Pickering" when he said...." the good Lord would never disrupt the best game of my life". The warm weather folks have it easy never having to endure a layoff. Then again, they don't have an excuse to be "off" when the good weather returns in the spring. Course closing Saturday. The only Titleist gear I'll have for the next 3 or 4 months is a hat in mittens in the snow.

I feel for you. Lived in NY for 57 years before retiring in 2010 to FL. Hang in there and take a trip south if you are able.
