For those that do not have a year round golf season, what do you do when the golf season is over to keep active. When the snow flies, I'm a Pro Ski Instructor and keep in fit over the winter with snow skiing!!!

Mine is college basketball. I love watching just about any team, and do a part time gig covering a team for a local radio station.

Though technically our posting season ends in November here in Maryland, I play golf all winter as long as there is no snow and the temp is above freezing. Last year I played well into January. Then we had a 3' dump of snow in 24 hours and I had to wait nearly a month to get back out there. It was the only significant snow, but it was a big one. Part of the month that the snow was covering the course, I went and visited my Mom in Florida and played 5 or 6 rounds in the Sarasota area. So, with the exception of a couple weeks, I played non stop.

I actually love playing in the off-season as long as the temp are bearable and the wind isn't too strong. I usually have the course somewhat to myself and rarely lose a ball as all the deep stuff is dormant. I have shot some of my best scores in the dead of winter. Unfortunately, those scores can't be posted for handicap index.

I also do a lot of chipping and putting around the house, go to a local range if it's open, and read a bunch of golf publications which I don't always have time for during the season.

Many years ago, I was a ski instructor (and coach) too. Don't care to ski anymore. Rather play golf. It's a lot cheaper and much more of a challenge (for me). And it's a lot harder to injure your leg playing golf. Though, Tiger might beg to differ!

I am one of the lucky ones. Live in the lowcountry and one the coast of S Carolina. When it is cold, around freezing, and we do have those days, I stay home and watch the golf channel. May miss a couple of weeks out of the year due to the cold. Rain is out biggest reason for not playing during Hurricane season, which runs June thru November. At sea level you do not want to be out when the tropical storms come in in full force. We all have our weather demons. Some just last longer. Hey, we get some snow on occasions, 2010.

I used to play a ton of competitive hockey now I have moved being 35 years young. I play in a semi-competitive curling league with my golf buddies entering a weekly competitive mens night once a week and some cash spiels. Curling for those that play golf is very much the same type of people, enjoy beverages after, some side cash bets, etc. And like golf from 15 years ago, curling is now in the last few years has gotten very athletic and is moving past the stigma of fat guys smoking are the only ones that curl. Just take a look at the Brier and Scotties.

For those other days maybe during a storm or on the weekends after the kids get to bed and I can get the wife to leave me alone. Turn on the PS4 for some Rory PGA Tour 15 golf

For 63 years I lived year round in the Midwest (Chicago and Detroit). I retired three years ago so now I chase my Titleist down the fairway (hopefully) in Chicago during the summer and Phoenix in the winter. Also work as a starter in winter so I get to the course alot.

Winters pretty terrible in Toronto Canada so indoor dome driving ranges and simulators are the best and only thing to do golf related or putt in the basement lol

I have plenty of interests and activities, however, they are all warm weather dependent. Here in MA the winters can be just long enough to make me stir crazy. I count the days until I can play golf. Luckily there is a range with heated bays but its not the same.

I always hit the slopes to stay sane. Skiing is my second love, so it makes winter tolerable.

We've got some heated bays around me, so I make sure to hit balls once a week. I usually try to get together with the boys to hit a simulator once or twice as well.

I also plan a trip to Hawaii every year in Jan or Feb just to break up the long New England winter.

Growing up in Northern Michigan presented plenty of opportunities to come up with offseason interests. Skiing has been and always will be a part of my life but I've recently taken up fat tire biking in the winter. This helps to fight the battle of the bulge and keeps me active throughout the winter months. The ski hills in Wisconsin, where I've been living for the past 5 years, do very little to scratch my skiing itch. When my wife allows, I'll make the 5 hour drive "up north" for a weekend of skiing. In my bachelor days, I would race competitively in local "beer leagues" and the Midwest Masters series.

Usually manage to get in some winter golf at the weekends if the course isn't closed due to rain.....Frost and temporary greens can be a pain though. Other than that it's the driving range during the week.
  14. The end of golf season up here signals the start of hunting season! Also shoot in archery leagues all through the winter to keep the competitive mind busy.

I'm in the UK, so I'll probably only play once a month and will attempt to go to the driving range once a week. Once Xmas and New Year is out of the way i'll get back into range a couple of times a week and working on pitching and short game.
