Easy one for me although I hit some memorable ones this year but non as memorable as my Hole in One Feb 16th on the 17th hole of the Island course at Innesbrook. Its a shot I will never forget! I used a 4 iron AP2 and a Pro V1x #6 on the 190 yard hole.

My most memorable moment for 2011 was about an 8 foot put for birdie. I was only playing nine (par was 36) by myself and I was already 5 over for 3 holes. I was about to quit. Next four holes were all pars! After I made a 10 footer for birdie on a long downhill par 5 over the water on 8 (on in 3), I decided I should go for the 39. I hit my 5 wood about 7-10 feet away, and sunk the put! That put was my shot of the year because I never expected any of this to happen!

Two weeks ago, my buddies and I had a little grudge match going on. Going into 17 I was 3 shots down. Tee shot was a must and I hit the ball straight down the middle, 290 yards. I was 210 yards out, par five, and I was in between clubs. I chose the 4 iron and made one of the best swings all day. I landed about 25 feet left of the pin. The pressure was now on my buddy and did it get to him. He missed his approach shot and chipped up about 15 feet for par. being out, i now had an eagle put that had two beaks and was going down hill. Once again, i put a smooth stroke on the ball and drained the putt for a 3. Buddy missed his par putt so we went into 18 tied. we ended the round tied but hole 17 was one the best three shots i put together for the entire year..

[/quote] I would drool to play Medinah (I'm a Chicago person myself) - saw it every time we went to Adventureland back in the '60s and '70s. My dad has played the Monster a couple times back in the day. In regards to some of the others talking about putting fairway woods on the green... I do it with regularity using my 7 wood (I've pretty much whipped the 165-185 yard par 3s into submission; the 165 being those that play longer and are uphill). Yesterday's shot had to be one of the sloppiest GIRs with a 7W - the shot flew slightly left and ended up on the dance floor close enough (about 6') to sink a birdie putt - that isn't sloppiest, though; I hit a bit of a banana ball on a downhill 185 yd par 3 about 6 months ago and it rolled right on the green. My general 7W or 5H on the long par 3s is usually a slight draw that goes to the right of the green and goes to the center.

A couple shots come to mind. First was a drive on a links style course, drawed the perfectly fitting the shape of the fairway. Second was a putt from 72 feet out to for a birdie on a par 3 with the California Del Mar. Caught one of the friends napping with as he was warming up to chip, ball hits pin, looks up and says "did that just happen?".

i dont know if its really my shot of the year but its my most recent memory of really good shots.

In my last tournament of the year i was on a up hill 326 yard par 4. it was a par for with an elevated box and an even more elevated green with a vally in the middle wiht a fairway. i use that fabulus 910 D3 8.5 xstiff and just said why not. in the end i drove the back of the green on the fly we guessed it was some where in the 336-346 carry range. we know it could be no shorter than the 326 becouse the tees were at the laser marker in the ground. so if that was to the middle and i carry'd the back of what we call (army greens) couse they are big and cant miss. We figured it would have to be atleast 336 on level ground so you can make a guess about the distance with it being elevated. anyways the group ahead of us stuck around to watch the putt that i missed but i did walk off birdie. i think anyone would take a two put birdie on a par 4

I may have related this before in another forum question, but I just experienced another shot just before the weather turned cold.

On the par 5 where we play I was 245 yds. out from the green and hit a 3 wood to within 8 feet of the hole. At my age, 71 in now 7 days away, I consider that darn good. And I even managed a birdie.

I just posted my 71st round of the year in GHIN and got my index to a low of 1.2 after almost never being below 3, but my shot of the year was not in one of those posted rounds, but in the New Hampshire Father & Son Championship played in an alternate shot format. My son Kevin and I felt we were in contention at bogey-free 5-under on the 18th tee. We could certainly feel the pressure and I was left with a flop shot over a bunker to a tight pin on 18. I hit the wedge to about 5 feet and my son made the putt for the victory!

Playing an 18 hole round with a friend. He tells me on the way to the course that he has been playing well, and thinks he can beat me. We tee off on hole 1, he birdies, I bogey. Hole 2, he pars, I bogey. Teeing off on 3 he starts to tell me about how this is the day that he is gonna beat me, and have the bragging rights. At the end of 9 he was +1, and I was +5. We both pared 10-13, but that streak was broken with my birdie on the 14th. Walking to the 15th tee he says "You'll need a lot more than one birdie to beat me today!" Enjoying the friendly competition, I accepted the challenge. 160 yard par 3 15th, I hit an amazing 7 iron right at the flag about a foot from the hole. The tap in birdie was the 2nd of 4 birdies in a row. All while he fell apart, and I won. Even though it was only a friendly round. It was a well hit ball, while having someone try to get in my head. It was a clutch shot, and one of my best this year.

Mine was a 2-iron from 215 yards on a par 5 that help me stay in my club matchplay championship. It ended up ten or fifthteen feet from the flag but I ended up losing the match in a playoff.

It was last weekend actually,I'm 13 years old and I was playing at my home course,council fire,Chattanooga Tennessee, it was a 140 yard par 3 #7, I hit a solid 7 iron,I forgot to mention this green is very elevated so anything short is rolling down in the large swale and anything long is in a swamp,I hit a really solid shot but it hit the side of the green and stuck and then all of a sudden I noticed it slowly rolling down the hill, I didn't know where my ball ended up until I got up to the green and saw it sitting up on a root on a huge oak tree,it was right next to the tree and I had no room to swing,I took out my wedge and came straight down on it it flew up in the air and had so much backspin it stuck right next to the hole,a tap in par is fine by me,I wouldn't say it was my best shot but definEtly my most memorable, even tho it totaled my beloved clevland 56 degree

This summer during a major slump, I went to my last tourny of the season, on the 5th hole, I pushed my tee shot left and almost hit it O.B.. I punched just short of the green, and dropped my next shot from 40 yds to make my second straight birdie. I went on to shoot 36 on the front and ended up finished solo 6th. It was a great way to finally get out of a whole summer slump.

It was this past weekend. Par 3 126 yards, I hit a picture perfect pitching wedge dead at the stick. When I got to the green I saw that I hit it six inches left of the cup. It was such a good feeling hitting it flush and watch the ball sail straight towards the hole.

I grew up 5 min down the road from Bethpage State Park and have played the famed Black Course countless times. In the past year my golf handicap has gotten down to a 4 from a 9. So about two weeks ago I set out on the Black Course for what i planned to be the last time for the year. I played from the back tees and wound up with my best score ever on the course, 77. Aside from the score, this round was remembered for what I consider to be my shot of the year. The 4th hole on the Black is a three- tiered Par 5 stretching to 539 yards. But what the hole lacks in length, it makes up in elevation. To reach the green in two the second shot requires an extreme uphill shot to a green guarded in front with bunkers and sloping front to back. Well for the first time ever I was able to hold a 4 iron on this green from about 200 yards. The shot was unbelievable, in the near 50 times I've played the course I can only remember two other people I witnessed hold that green in two. I then preceded to lip out an eagle and tap in my birdie. While this wasn't my lowest score of the year, I consider it possibly my best round of the year on a course playing that long and tough; furthermore it came with my best shot of the year.

My shot of the year was my first eagle ever. I hit a perfect 3 wood to the front of the green where I was on the fringe and chipped in. Either one of those were the were my shots of the year. By the way I'm 13.

I'm on the 14th hole about 228 yards out. Took my 909F3 18* and hit a Pro V1x to about 8' from the pin with a perfect fade. My playing partner stood there watching it and as it came to a rest said - that's shot of the year....right there. I'm usually not in a position to do so but still, it wound up being the only green I hit this year with a fairway wood.

Mike P. Tournament, Mt. Vintage Plantation, weekend 10/22. Par 5 #14-531Yds., second shot 223 up hill on a upward lie, could not see Green, used 3 iron, new it would draw on the up hill lie, made the shot, could not see until arriving at the green. Ended up appx. 18' from hole. Ended up with Eagle. Thank You

for me it was a 5 iron I hit during one of my foursome's final rounds for our season-long competition, The Fed-Up Cup.

I was only about 145 from the 18th green, uphill, into a pretty strong wind, I gripped down on my 5 iron and made a solid swing and just hit the ball perfectly, it ended up about 8 feet from the pin. It's my shot of year because I played smart by taking plenty of club, and I was able to pull off a low punch show that I had been practicing. I really wanted at least a par on the final hole, and I managed to get it and win the competition.

For Me it was this July in Ma., it was the 18 hole and I needed par to shot even par for the 1st time. I pushed my drive right in the rough, it left me 125 out up the hill and had to go over some trees. With a good swing and good contact the ball cleared the trees and was on line for the pin. With an elevated green I couldn't tell how close I was. When I got up to the green I saw I was 15 feet from the pin. That was my shot of the year. My putt lipped out for the birdie, but I was still happy to shoot even for the 1st time.

A hole in one with a 4 iron from around 190yds. The best part about it is that it was in the dark while playing for a dollar a hole!!

I few home and played against an old friend that I'm awfully competitive with. We’re competitive in a variety of things but he just strips the ball off the tee. I usually beat him in the end, but he just loves to bask in the distance of his tee ball. The whole time we were warming up he kept making jabs about his superior driving distance. First hole of our first match he ripped it down the pipe and flashed me a little cocky smile. I just tried to make good solid contact and hit the best drive of my life. It flew his ball with a little draw and rolled it out another 15 yards. It set the tone for the rest of the round and the weekend, and even better, I will always have the look on his face when I said "you're away" etched in my mind.
