    Hey, guys.

I've always been partial to the smaller head design in previous generations of Titleist drivers, but I was just checking out the 917s and the 917D2 looked a lot more manageable to me than D2 models in the past.  Is it just me or have others had a similar reaction to the 917D2 profile?

It all comes down to how they perform in my upcoming fitting, of course, but if it comes down to appearance I think I'm going to have a much harder choice.

Any recent 917D2 adopters care to chime in?  Thanks!

    Rick

I think it should come down to your fitting. I have always been a D2 gamer until this year when I switched to the D3 ... only because of the consistency of hitting the fairway with the less spinning head.
It took me a while to get used to the "classic" look & size of the D3 but performance was the overall deciding factor for me.

Thanks, Chris. Agree that fitting results are the most important factors to consider.

It's interesting you brought this up. I was wondering the same. I had the 915 D3. This year is bought the 917 D3 which I love. I've never had a probably spinning the ball with 110 avg clubhead speed, hit the center fairly consistently and love the look of the smaller more classic head. However, after seeing a lot of top tour players playing the D2 (Adam Scott, Jordan Spieth, Charlie Hoffman, Bill Haas, Jimmie Walker, Jason Dufner and Scott Piercy) who are obviously all much better than me, it got me wondering if the 917 line, which apparently spins less than the 915 in both D2 and D3, if this makes D2 low enough spin to play but still benefit from the forgiveness. Thus, I actually picked up a D2 as well and will be comparing side by side against the D3. My avg spin on trackman with the D3 has been right at about 2500 which is fine. It will be interesting to see the D2.

Christopher, thanks for weighing in. Please let us know how your comparison works out. I'm very curious to learn what you find.
