  1. I use a Newport Select 2.5. Looks great and feels great. Problem is that I have been having trouble in determining if the putter face is squared to the line I have selected. Usually, the result of the stroke indicates it is not squared. But how to do it? Finally, yesterday, something caught my eye. As I look down at the ball, if I align the shaft, just before the bend in the neck, with the edge of the putter face near the heel, bingo, it is squared! If I do not forward press, the line is true. Of course you still need to read the line and stroke along the selected line but the face will be square. It's sort of the same process as with those ugly SeeMore things except the Newport is a thing of beauty.

Go to the practice green and get yourself a couple of alignment sticks and place your ball in the middle and practice putting down the line. It will help you get a visual for how to line up your putter. After a while it will become natural. Watch the pros sometimes at tour events on the practice greens. They use all kinds of alignment tools when practicing their putting stroke. I have two of the Newport Select 2.5s and they are my favorite putters. A carry over from the days of putting with png Pals and Ansers. I putt well with mine when the bottom is square to the ground as well. Gets the ball rolling on line better. The sticks help. A lot of folks putt with the toe to upright.

Go find yourself a Scotty Cameron Putting Path Tool!!!!
This tool is very simple but yet AMAZING for getting the putter to square up at impact.
