  1. I'm thinking of getting a new wedge. Should I get the sm5's or the sm6's, I'm looking at price also.

While the SM5 were excellent, the new SM6 was a whole different level for me. I think they're outstanding and a big improvement.

Both are great clubs. The SM 5 is about $40 less and is a great wedge. I switched from Cleveland Rotex last year (to an SM5) and noticed a huge difference in my wedge play. Great choices in grinds and lofts if they're still available. I picked up a 58/11 and improved my sand play 100%. Just added the 54/10 and love it.
So, considering cost, if you can still find SM5s, grab them, but you won't regret either.

I went in to get new wedges and asked this question to the sales rep and he told me the SM6 has a lot more technology that the SM5 did not have. The center of gravity changes based on the wedge loft to help flow from your iron set. Based on what I saw it looked like there is a lot of change in the SM6 Gap Wedge and Lob Wedge lofts to manipulate shape shot. I did pick up a SM6 sand wedge and hit a few shots with it so far and it feels very nice compared to the other wedges I have played.
  5. SM6 wedges are awesome, definitely an improvement over the SM5.

SM6 and the new grinds are great! Have yourself fitted for it and you'll be glad- take advantage of the new tech.

I played the fives and absolutely love them. Great Value and you can't go wrong with a bob vokey wedge in your hand.

Would recommend going with the newer model. Improved technology. If you need to save money the SM5 is a great club. I have a 55.09 S grind and a 56.14 F grind sand wedge and love both of them. The 55 is great for heavier sand.

Nothing wrong with the SM-5. Great clubs, paricularly if budget is an issue.
My only concern would be availability. Is the loft/grind that you want still offered?

Get the new model and you will never have any lingering thoughts on what you should have done. Always look forward my friend!

    I've got 716 irons, 816 hybrid, 917 woods...but SM5 wedges.

    They're pretty darn good.

Hit both the 5 and 6, though, because it's really about getting the club that fits YOU.

  14. I just replaced my SM5's with SM6's and love the results thus far.
  15. Love my SM5s. Can't go wrong with a Vokey.
