Hi, I am thinking of changing my shafts in my 712mb irons. I presently have the dynamic gold S300. I want to change them to the nippon NS pro 8950gh stiff flex. I read it helps promote a higher ball flight. What I am not sure about is how can I do this? What diameter do I need. Ex: .355 or .370. Can anyone help.

    Hi Warren,

We all have unique swings.  The way we load the shaft during the swing is very peronal, so you may get different results compared to the literature out there.

Instead of just throwing a dart blindly at a target, you might want to try a fitting.  That way you can see how that shaft performs.  Maybe it will help you, or maybe another shaft is actually a better fit.  I'm not sure if your regional fitting center (or the national one... not sure where you are in Canada) can do that with the 712MB, but doing it with the latest model would still be better than just guessing.  Lastly, I believe that as long as the shaft you select is in the current Titleist catalogue, you can send them in to Titleist to be reshafted.

    Regards,

    Hi Warren,

Kevin provided some very solid advice!  A fitting would take the guessing work out of the equation.

If that is not possible, for most players a NS Pro 850 would fly higher than Dynamic Gold.  It is much lighter and has a bend profile that would encourage a higher ball flight.  I find it a very popular option for moderate speed players.  XP 95 has also been extremely popular in this category!

    Our iron diameter is .355

    Thanks

    Chris
