I worked with Ryuji Imada a lot this week, as he is trying to pull the trigger on making one of the new 907 drivers his gamer. I am still not sure what he is going to play in Houston, but I think it is just a matter of time before he makes the switch because he was hitting the 907D4 prototype solid on the range. He has stuck with the 905S all year with pretty good success, already posting three Top 20 finishes. He is happy with his distance, but his accuracy isn't where he wants it to be. Ryuji is a good young player starting his third year on the PGA TOUR and an interesting story. He moved to Florida from Japan when he was 14 to work on his game. After a great junior career he went to the University of Georgia where he helped win a national championship. He finished runner-up to Luke Donald in the individual competition the same year. He turned professional after his sophomore year and had great success on the Nationwide Tour, earning his PGA Tour card for 2005. Looks like Ryuji might have been testing some new Scotty Cameron putters this week, too.

It has been a pretty busy week here at the Shell Houston Open where we have 31 full-line staff players in the field. These are guys we call "Titleist ambassadors" and carry anywhere from 10-14 Titleist clubs in their bags, including the driver, wear Titleist on their cap, carry the Titleist bag, wear either a Titleist or FootJoy glove and FootJoy shoes. World No. 5 Adam Scott is the highest-ranked player in the field this week and has been a Titleist ambassador since he turned professional in 2000. Charley Hoffman is another Titleist ambassador who won his first PGA Tour victory earlier this year in a playoff at the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.
